Gaoshu

Gāoshù (高樹) is a predominantly Hakka township in northern Pingtung, part of the Liudui (六堆) region. The name refers to a tall kapok tree that once towered above the main settlement. It is home to the Daluguan Stone Lions (大路關石獅公), a folk custom dating to 1777, and the former residence of Taiwanese writer Chung Li-ho (鍾理和) can be found in nearby Guangxing Village. Five Dachen villages were established here in 1955 for evacuees from the Dachen and Nanji Islands, the largest concentration in any single township.
