Nèipǔ (內埔) is a predominantly Hakka township in central Pingtung, part of the Liudui (六堆) region. The name means “inner field” in Hakka, referring to the clearing that early settlers carved from dense forest on former Paiwan territory. Fengtian Old Street (豐田老街), lined with shophouses like the Hongxiangyun grocery store (鴻祥雲), is the best-preserved of the township’s historic streetscapes. Neipu is also notable for its concentration of ritual paper incinerators (敬字亭), with as many as 16 recorded across the township.
