Chángzhì (長治) is a predominantly Hakka township immediately northeast of Pingtung City and part of the historic Liudui (六堆) region. In 1895, during the Yiwei War (乙未戰爭), the Liudui militias made their last stand against the Japanese army at what is now known as the Battle of Huoshaozhuang (火燒庄戰役); a memorial now stands on the battlefield site.
