This Hakka village is home to an unusual custom that began in 1777 with the carving of a stone lion to protect the settlement from flooding. The original stone lion was eventually lost in a disaster but the villages carved additional lions in 1918 and then again in 1965. These are scattered across the village, with the original lion found at Guangfu Shuntian Temple (廣福順天宮) and the others in Stone Lion Park (石獅公公園).
