Zhutian

Zhútián (竹田) is a predominantly Hakka township in central Pingtung. The township is situated in the central Liudui (六堆) region and was home to the the earliest of the six to develop. The Liutui Martyrs’ Shrine (六堆忠義亭), established in 1722 after local Hakka militias repelled rebel forces during the Zhu Yigui Uprising, is the symbolic center of the Liudui system.
