Established in the 1950s alongside Wenhua Theater (文華戲院) in Neipu, Pingtung. This venue was somewhat more focused on traditional opera and performance. After the theater closed in 1969 the surrounding market moved into the building, which was then known as New Market (新市場). Because it was not purpose-built as a market the building was inconvenient and it was eventually demolished around 1980 to make room for a more modern market building constructed on this site in 1983.
