Ānnán (安南) is a strange mix of two worlds. It encompasses a large swathe of urban sprawl spilling over from Tainan City to the south as well as a number of more traditional old villages in rural areas to the northwest. All of Annan is low-lying territory along the coast, and much of it is land reclaimed from the former Taijiang Inner Sea.
