Rende (仁德) - Spectral Codex

Réndé (仁德) is a suburban district in southern Tainan. It was historically part of the territory once administered by the short-lived Wannian County (萬年縣) during the Ming-Zheng Dynasty in the 1660s. During the Japanese colonial era the area underwent industrial development centered around the Rende Sugar Factory, established in 1909 as the Chelunqian Sugar Factory (車路墘製糖所), which operated until 2003 and is now a cultural park. After World War 2, the Second Air Force New Village was established east of Tainan Airbase in 1950, eventually becoming one of the largest military dependents’ villages in Taiwan before its demolition in the 2010s. Today Rende is home to the Chimei Museum, a major art museum within Tainan Metropolitan Park (臺南都會公園).
