Established in 1921, this salt production site on the north side of Tainan City was in continuous operation until 1996. After it was abolished it was recognized for its heritage value in 2003 and converted into the Saltworks Culture Village (鹽田生態文化村). Several points of interest remain including an old office, now converted into Taijiang Cetacean Museum (台江鯨豚館), while more modern dormitories for salt workers have been effectively abandoned.
