下營

Xiàyíng (下營) is a rural district in Tainan that developed as a military encampment settlement during the Ming-Zheng period, when soldiers were stationed here to clear forests and work farmlands under the official tuntian system (屯田制). During the Dutch colonial era the area was a major settlement of the Siraya Indigenous people.
