Yujing

Yùjǐng (玉井), historically known as Tapani (噍吧哖) in the Taivoan language, is a rural district in eastern Tainan renowned for mango production since the 1960s. The district was the epicenter of the Tapani Incident (噍吧哖事件), a major anti-Japanese uprising that began on April 9, 1915, resulting in a brutal crackdown. The Yujing Sugar Factory, established in 1913 during Japanese rule and operational until 1992, was partially transformed into the Tapani Incident Memorial Park in 2015 to commemorate the centennial of the uprising.
