Established in 1913, this sugar factory operated until 1992, when operations were transferred to the Shanhua Sugar Factory further west in Tainan. It was once home to an institutional Shinto shrine (構內社), likely known as Tamai-jinja (玉井神社) in the original Japanese, but its precise location and ultimate fate is unknown. In 2015 part of the old sugar factory was transformed into the Taipani Incident Memorial Park (噍吧哖事件紀念園區), but most of the factory grounds remain idle or under construction as of 2025.
