This former temple in rural Yujing once venerated Yuhuang Dadi (玉皇大帝), the Jade Emperor, but it suffered considerable damage in the 2016 southern Taiwan earthquake (2016年高雄美濃地震) on February 6th. The idols were soon moved to Wantan Tiansheng Temple (灣潭天聖宮) in nearby Nanxi, leaving the shell of the temple in ruins. It has been a fixture of the urban exploration scene since then, with renewed interest in the site exploding in mid-2025 after it was widely featured on social media.
