Opened in January 1985 in the basement of Dongguang Department Store (東光百貨), part of the Chunhui New World (春暉新世界) complex. When the department store closed in 1995, the theater was renamed Dongguang Theater (東光戲院) and continued operating, and even became a venue for film festivals. It closed in 2001, unable to compete with new multiplex cinemas, and its current status is unknown.
