Taichung South

South District (南區) is a district south of Taichung City’s historic center, home to National Chung Hsing University (國立中興大學) and several clusters of former staff dormitories. Taichung Winery (臺中酒廠), a heritage-listed industrial complex established in 1916, produced beer, wine, and spirits until 1998 and has since been preserved as a cultural park. Taichung Chenghuang Temple (台中城隍廟) traces its origins to 1889, when a shrine was first established here as part of the aborted Qing dynasty era provincial capital.
