An elementary school established in the Japanese colonial era as Miyamae Public School (宮前公學校), named for its location on the approach to the Taiwan Shrine. Its campus layout, with arcaded façades and a projecting south-facing main entrance, took shape between the colonial era and the early post-war years. Though the upper floors and parts of two wings were added after the war, they preserve the original character, and the school was listed as a historic building in 2019.
