Shuǐlǐ (水里), formerly Shuilikeng (水裡坑), is a township in central Nantou that split from Jiji in 1950. It is the terminus of the Jiji Line (集集線), which ends at Checheng (車埕), a former company town revitalized as a tourist destination with a lumber industry museum and several heritage buildings. The township is also closely tied to the Sun Moon Lake hydroelectric system, with Sun Moon Lake No. 2 Power Plant and related infrastructure located within its borders. Traditional ceramics production continues at the Shuili Snake Kiln. It has a population of roughly 12,000.
