Mingtan Power Plant (明潭發電廠) is the largest hydroelectric station in Taiwan and the operational hub of the western arm of the modernized Sun Moon Lake Hydroelectric Project. Its pumped-storage units, completed in 1995, use Sun Moon Lake as an upper reservoir and the Mingtan Reservoir on the Shuili River (水里溪) as a lower pool, with a combined capacity of 1,602 MW. Since a 1999 restructuring the plant has also administered several older stations, among them the Sun Moon Lake No. 2 Power Plant, Beishankeng Power Plant, and Zhoushui Hydroelectric Power Station.
