Founded in 1909 by Taiwan Sugar Manufacturing Co. (臺灣製糖株式會社) as the Chelunqian Sugar Factory (車路墘製糖所), with production beginning in 1910. Originally producing raw sugar, it switched to white sugar in 1926 and was renamed Rende Sugar Factory (仁德糖廠) in 1969. After ceasing production in 2003, the factory warehouses were leased to Ten Drum Cultural Village (十鼓文創園區), which opened to the public in 2007.
