Hòulóng (後龍) is a coastal township in northwestern Miaoli with a name derived from the Taokas Indigenous people (道卡斯族) who originally inhabited the area. The township has a mixed population of predominantly Minnan and Hakka people and serves as a major transportation hub, housing the Miaoli HSR (High Speed Rail) station alongside multiple conventional railway connections. The area retains rapidly disappearing World War 2 heritage including the former Koryu Airfield (後龍飛行場) built late in the war as a kamikaze base and scattered air raid shelters, while its coastal position offers scenic attractions like the Cape of Good Hope (好望角風景區).
