Tóuwū (頭屋) is a rural township in central Miaoli known for the scenic Mingde Reservoir (明德水庫), which transformed the historic Yongchun Temple (永春宮) site into an island when the reservoir was filled in 1970. The township has a modest industrial heritage including the Shuangxi Coal Mine (雙喜煤礦), which operated from 1954 to 1984.
