Shītán (獅潭) is a sparsely populated township and majority Hakka area in central Miaoli. Located in a longitudinal valley, Shitan is home to several small historic sites including the Mackay tooth extraction site and a monument commemorating the 1935 Hsinchu-Taichung earthquake that devastated the region.
