A red-brick and stone pylon on the riverbed is all that remains of the original Houlong River Bridge (後龍溪橋), completed around 1903. The rest of the bridge was demolished in 1991, leaving only the No. 6 pylon as a reminder of the effort involved in spanning this river over a century ago. There is no obvious path from the north approach; visiting the site may entail some bushwhacking along the riverbed.
