Tongxing Old Street is a tiny stretch of historic residences along the coast of Houlong, Miaoli. There are only a few old residences here, many of them abandoned and crumbling into dust, and no shops. It makes for a nice stop to take photos if you’re on a road trip through the area but there is otherwise no real reason to visit.
Old residences in coastal Miaoli.
Many of these homes are falling apart.
Mail piling up in the window indicates nobody comes around here all that often.
The few residents who remain have been industrious in setting up gorgeous gardens in the ruins.
An old house at the end of the street with an amazing collection of succulents.
I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
