Wàipǔ (外埔) is a rural district on the Houli Plateau in northwestern Taichung, bounded by the Dajia and Da’an Rivers. The name means “outer field”, contrasting with the “inner field” of neighboring Houli to the east. The foot of Tiezhen Mountain (鐵砧山) on the district’s western edge retains several Japanese colonial era residences, including the Xu family mansion (許氏洋樓).
