A modern Mazu temple in Waipu, Taichung. It was founded by Liao Xiuxue (廖秀雪) with Mazu incense carried from the nearby Dajia Jenn Lann Temple (大甲鎮瀾宮) and built piecemeal over some three decades. Its most prominent feature is a towering outdoor statue of Jigong (濟公), the Drunken Monk, carved from bluestone (青斗石) by a craftsman in Hui’an, Fujian, and completed around 2014. Standing more than fifteen metres tall, it functions as a local landmark.
