Tainan Prison Central Station

Also known as the Tainan Prison Octagonal Building (台南監獄八角樓), this early Japanese colonial era structure was originally located on the grounds of Tainan Prison in West Central District. When Tainan Prison was abolished and relocated to the outskirts of the city this building was relocated there, but doesn’t seem to have been put to use. After years of neglect it has begun to collapse, and since it failed to pass a review by the Ministry of Culture, its ultimate fate is sealed. Since it is located on prison grounds it isn’t possible to visit the site, but it can be observed from the nearby fields.
