Hunei Taiye Su Family Residence (湖內太爺蘇家古厝) - Spectral Codex
湖內太爺蘇家古厝

Two-courtyard, double-wing Minnan-style ancestral residence of the Su () family in the village of Taiye (太爺), built sometime between the late 18th and mid-19th century. The house is best known as the site where Reverend Thomas Barclay met Japanese general Nogi Maresuke (乃木希典) on October 20, 1895, during the Yiwei War. The agreement reached at that meeting led to the peaceful entry of Japanese forces into Tainan and spared the city from a destructive assault.
