This cluster of reinforced concrete silos was built by the Taiwan Railways Administration in the mid-1970s for bulk grain handling only to be sidelined within a decade as shippers shifted to road haulage. Around 2018 the facility was found to contain vast quantities of fly ash, illegally dumped by coastal chemical companies via an unlicensed intermediary that had taken over the site. Although recognized for their heritage value in 2022 the grounds are owned and managed by Taiwan Railways and remain closed to the public. These silos are one of only two remaining examples of their kind in Taiwan, the other being the Yuanlin Railway Granary.
