A temple on the north side of Dounan built over a mass grave of militia members slain in the Battle of Tarimu (他里霧之役), part of the Yiwei War of 1895 that saw Taiwan fall under Japanese colonial rule. Originally established in 1902 as Wanrenye Temple (萬人爺廟), it was demolished during the Kōminka movement (皇民化運動) around 1940 and rebuilt in 1947 under its current name with Kṣitigarbha as the primary deity. Its annual festival on the 28th day of the fourth lunar month draws tens of thousands and features open-air banquets hosted by the five surrounding neighbourhoods.
