Xīnwū (新屋), literally “new home”, is a rural coastal district in western Taoyuan renowned for its historic Hakka architecture. The district is named for the Fanjiang Ancestral Hall and associated cluster of traditional courtyard homes, the oldest dating to 1854, built by the Fanjiang family originating in Guangdong.
