Completed in 1930, this Japanese colonial era police station in Dounan was part of a larger complex of government buildings that also grew to include an office of the hokō system (1940) and detention center (1950s). It was damaged in the 921 Earthquake and the police bureau was relocated to other facilities, leaving the old complex idle. It was designated a historic property in 2009 and restored over the subsequent decade. The site now operates as a restaurant serving light meals.
