Built between 1974 and 1976 by the Taiwan Railways Administration to relieve port congestion through bulk grain handling, this complex of ten reinforced concrete silos stands 34.3 meters tall along the west side of the tracks north of Yuanlin Railway Station in Yuanlin, Changhua. The opening of the Sun Yat-sen Freeway in 1978 prompted food processors to shift to road haulage, and the granary closed in 1983 after only seven years of service. Listed as a historic building in 2003, this granary and its counterpart Dounan Railway Granary in Yunlin are the only surviving silos of their kind in Taiwan.
