Originally established in 1882 as the earliest Catholic church in central Taiwan. It was damaged in an earthquake and rebuilt in 1912, then again in the 1970s and finally 1996. Although the church no longer retains a historic appearance, a red brick classroom (埔心羅厝天主堂文物館) next door was recognized for its heritage value in 2002.
