A cement plant founded in 1942 by the Nanpō Cement Company (南方セメント工業株式會社), a joint venture partly owned by the Taiwan Electric Power Company to supply its hydroelectric projects on the Dajia River (大甲溪). Left unfinished at the end of the Japanese colonial era and completed by Taiwan Cement (台灣水泥), it drew low-salt limestone by aerial tramway from Chikeshan (赤柯山) in Guanxi and supplied top-grade cement to projects such as Shimen Reservoir. Production ceased in 2000 once the limestone ran out, and the plant was demolished around 2010 to make way for housing and a park; its company dormitories survive nearby.
