Zhúdōng (竹東) is a regional hub in central Hsinchu County, Taiwan, with a predominantly Hakka population of approximately 98,000. The township has evolved from its historical foundation in lumber, camphor, and petroleum industries to become a modern research and technology center. Zhudong’s cultural heritage is preserved through sites such as the Japanese colonial era Changchun Hospital, now converted into a café and museum, as well as Ziyuanzhuang Auditorium, a former company theater that is now used for special events and weddings.
