An immense temple built on a hill behind the Taiwan Provincial Council in 1971. It was destroyed in the 921 Earthquake and reconstruction efforts failed due to mismanagement of funds and mounting debt. Sometimes referred to as Taichung Wanfo Temple (台中萬佛寺) in the news.
