A distinctive UFO-shaped planetarium designed by Xiu Zelan (修澤蘭), one of Taiwan’s most prominent female architects of the post-war era. Built between 1961 and 1964 as part of a model rural school campus, it features a reinforced concrete dome supported by eight legs and decorative lattice windows. The rest of the school was destroyed in the 921 Earthquake but the planetarium survived and was designated a historic building in 2018. It now serves as the school history museum. Presumably it can be visited outside of regular school hours as is customary in Taiwan.
