Zhongli

Zhōnglì (中壢) is a mid-sized city of about half a million in the heart of Taoyuan. The lower third of the city is actually part of neighboring Pingzhen but there’s not much of a visible border between the two. The Longgang area is notable for its military dependents’ village heritage and the Longgang Mosque, completed around 1989 to serve the Muslim community among post-war military families. Apart from a pair of lively night markets, Zhongli is also home to a vibrant bar scene and numerous restaurants; it isn’t a conventional tourist attraction by any means, but if you’re living, working, or studying in Taiwan, it’s a good place to be.
