Bāde (八德) is a district in Taoyuan notable for its role in military communications during the Japanese colonial era and post-war military settlement history. The Okaseki Radiotelegraph Station, built in 1940, serviced nearby airbases during World War 2 and was later converted for civilian telecommunications. The district contains several military dependents’ villages and community facilities, most notably Zhongzheng Hall, a former movie theater built in 1964 that now serves as a library and community center.
