Zheng Yongxi Tomb

The final resting place of Zheng Yongxi (鄭用錫), the first imperial scholar with the rank of jinshi born and raised in Taiwan. He died in 1858 and was first buried in Xiangshan before being reinterred here in 1869, on a hillside outside the south gate of Hsinchu. Stone officials, horses, sheep, and tigers flank a tomb said to be second in scale only to that of Wang Delu among those in Taiwan, though some are replicas of figures stolen or vandalized before a restoration in the 1990s.
