Founded in 1939, during the Japanese colonial era, as a girls’ home economics school that was then the highest institution of female education in Hsinchu, and converted into a boys’ junior high school after the war. Originally it operated out of the Confucian temple, and in 1951 it was moved to this location at the foot of Shibajianshan. The oldest building on site, completed in 1956, has been recognized for its heritage value.
