Completed in 1961 and operating since 1963, this traditional market has an unusual footprint, offset from the main road at a slight angle, as well as a reinforced concrete ramp leading to the second floor. Both these features harken back to the original use of this site as the former Da’an Incinerator (大安塵芥燒却場), in operation from 1933 until the late 1950s. When it was built the incinerator was in the countryside outside of Taipei proper, and the ramp was likely retained when after the incinerator was demolished to make way for the market.
