This back alley temple has an unusual origin as a residence and ancestral hall built around 1905. For decades the surrounding community has existed in uncertainty, as property rights were lost in the chaos of the post-war upheaval. It became Taipei Fozan Temple (台北佛讚寺) in 1953 when an idol of Fuxin Wanggong (輔信王公), the deified Tang dynasty general Li Boyao (李伯瑤), was relocated here from Fuhai Temple (福海宮) in Taoyuan. A fire broke out in July 2017 and the temple was eventually dismantled. Now it is completely surrounded by a residential area for post office workers (郵政新村), its future uncertain.
