Two historic granaries on the grounds of the Xitun Farmers’ Association in Xitun, Taichung, have earned heritage status but are no longer in active use. The older granary was originally established in 1940 as the Taichung Prefecture Grain Control Association Warehouse (臺中州大屯郡米穀統制組合倉庫), later renamed the Xitun No. 1 Warehouse (中市西屯一號) under direct Taiwan Province Grain Bureau (臺灣省糧食局) management in the post-war era. The second warehouse is an octagonal granary (八角倉庫) of a style commonly built in the early 1960s. Officially recognized as a rice granary (稻種倉庫), it is accessible from the alleyways at the back of the farmers’ association compound.
