A performing arts venue in the Seventh Redevelopment Zone (七期重劃區) of Xitun, Taichung, designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito (伊東豊雄) after he won an international competition in 2005. Ito drew on caves and tree houses for a structure of curved concrete walls running through the whole building, which houses a 2,007-seat grand theater, a 794-seat playhouse, and a 200-seat black box. First proposed as a provincial music center in 1992, it was completed in 2014, then handed by the city to the National Performing Arts Center (國家表演藝術中心) and reopened in 2016 after further improvements.
