A pair of tobacco barns enmeshed within the village of Beiliu on the outskirts of Wufeng. Their specific history is unknown but they are obviously part of Taichung’s history of tobacco cultivation and plausibly date back to the 1960s or 1970s.
This tobacco barn is visible from Side Road (四德路).
A side view of the tobacco barn. The village has become heavily urbanized over the many decades since it was built.
Peering into the old tobacco barn from a back window reveals one wall was shorn off to make room for a more modern building next door.
I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
