A monument erected in 1940 to commemorate animals slaughtered at the former Wufeng Slaughterhouse (霧峰屠宰場), colloquially known as the “pig kitchen” (豬灶), in Wufeng, Taichung. The stele was commissioned by the Datun County Meat Merchants Association (大屯郡獸肉商同業組合). The slaughterhouse closed after the 921 Earthquake and the site has since been converted into a small community basketball court (屠宰場籃球場) but the monument was preserved in place and protected by stainless steel railings. It is one of only four remaining Japanese colonial era animal spirit monuments in Taichung.
