Built by the Zhou (周) family, who were in the construction business, in Taipei, in 1961. Its opening marked the beginning of Wuchang Street’s transformation into Cinema Street. At its peak the seven-story building allegedly housed the largest single-screen auditorium in the country, seating over 1,700. Competition from newer theaters led to closure around 1991. It suffered a fire in 2006 but a complicated ownership structure has precluded demolition or redevelopment despite a 2.5 billion NTD asking price in 2014. The exterior is covered in street art and commonly seen in drone videos but the interior is not readily accessible.
