A historic Mazu temple hidden behind the busy streets of Ximending in Taipei. There are several unusual features in this temple, from a shrine to Kōbō Daishi (空海) to the multi-level architecture that encourages worshippers to move around the space. This temple also features the first two stone idols of the Taipei Shikoku Pilgrimage (台北四國八十八所靈場), a Japanese colonial era pilgrimage circuit. It was originally the site of Guhō-ji (弘法寺), a Shingon Buddhist temple.
